FSAE | Modular Driver Padding System

Project Description

Using statistically correlated anthropometric data, developed a modular driver fitment system, where padding was selected through the measurement of simple base body dimensions (eg arm length, height etc).

Pads were designed to accommodate our entire target market, and allowed all drivers functional control of our vehicle. Ideal positioning of our drivers translated directly into vehicle performance on track.

This approach took into account physical dis-proportionality in drivers, and optimised our driver packaging system for the consumer market, where any new driver could feasibly be fit for our car within 5 minutes, without any need for custom seat molding.

Ranked ‘Best Ergonomic Design‘ at competitions in 2016.
